Thawing, Preparing, and Storing Raw Food

What is the best way to thaw the product?

We suggest putting the product in the refrigerator overnight. You can also thaw in the sink in room temperature water. Try to defrost more than one day of feeding at a time to stay ahead of yourself and always ensure you have your raw meals prepped for your dog. WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND AGAINST USING THE DEFROST SETTING ON THE MICROWAVE.

How long will the product last thawed in the refrigerator?

Depending on the temperature of your refrigerator and the method of defrosting, generally speaking the meat will be good for 3-5 days.
PLEASE NOTE: Products with green tripe may have a strong smell, but the meat should never smell like ammonia. If the meat has an ammonia smell, then it is no longer safe to feed and should be immediately discarded.

How long will the product stay good in the freezer?

You can safely keep our raw frozen in your freezer for 6 to 12 months.
We recommend trying to stay within the 6 month timeline, only to avoid freezer burn. Freezer burn does not ruin the food (still safe to feed), but can slightly alter the taste of the meat to the dog. You can tell if it is freezer burnt because it will take on a very iced look and have a frozen smell. This is still fine to feed.

What if the product thawed a little before it got to me?

If any of your product arrives slightly thawed, that is perfectly fine and safe! Just simply place in the freezer to refreeze.
