We’re dedicated to helping dogs thrive with high-quality, natural raw meals. The Foundation Raw Dog Food Company crafts every product using fresh, human-grade ingredients to ensure your pet gets safe, nutritious, and delicious food in every bite.
Shipping and Delivery
When do you ship orders, and how are holidays handled?
We ship all fresh, frozen dog food orders on Mondays. To make that week’s shipment, orders must be placed before 10 AM CST on Monday.
Orders placed after that will ship the following Monday.
We do not ship during weeks when a holiday falls.
- If the holiday is any day of the week, we skip shipping for that entire week.
- If the holiday is on a Saturday, we don’t ship the Monday before.
- If the holiday is on a Sunday, we don’t ship the next day (Monday).
Observed holidays: Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day.
How much does shipping cost for your products?
- Raw Dog Food: Flat rate of $40 per 30LB box or $20 per 15LB box (contiguous U.S. only)
- Freeze-Dried Dog Food: Flat rate of $10 for up to 14LB, and $20 for every additional 15LB (contiguous U.S. only)
- Apparel: Flat rate of $15 anywhere in North America
What if my order arrives partially thawed?
No worries! Slight thawing during transit is completely safe. Just pop the product back in the freezer as soon as it arrives.
Freeze-Dried Raw Shipping
When do you ship freeze-dried raw dog food orders?
Freeze-dried raw orders are processed and shipped separately from frozen raw chubs. Orders must be placed before 2:00PM (CST) on Sunday to be shipped on Monday. Any orders received after 2:00PM (CST) on Sunday will ship the following Monday.
Why does freeze-dried raw ship separately from frozen raw chubs?
Freeze-dried raw products don’t require freezing during transit, which allows them to be handled differently from our frozen raw chubs. To ensure product safety and maintain quality, we ship freeze-dried raw separately.
Is there an additional shipping cost for freeze-dried raw?
No, freeze-dried raw is shipped separately but there are no additional shipping fees beyond the standard charges you see at checkout.
Can freeze-dried raw be affected by warmer weather like frozen chubs?
Freeze-dried raw is shelf-stable and isn’t affected by temperature changes during transit. However, please inspect the product upon arrival and contact us if you notice any issues.
Storage & Handling
How is the food packaged and how should I store and serve it?
All products are shipped frozen and tightly packed. Upon arrival, freeze anything you don’t plan to use immediately.
If the food arrives slightly thawed or partially defrosted, it’s completely safe to refreeze.
When you're ready to feed your pup, simply take out a portion 24 hours in advance, let it thaw in the fridge, and serve.

What’s the best way to thaw The Foundation Raw dog food?
We recommend thawing the food in the refrigerator overnight. You can also place it in a bowl of room-temperature water in the sink.
To stay ahead, try defrosting several days’ worth of meals at once so you’re always prepared.
Important: Do not use the microwave’s defrost setting—this can compromise the nutritional integrity of the food.
How long does raw dog food last in the freezer?
Our raw dog food stays fresh in the freezer for up to 12 months. If stored in its original shipment box, it can last up to 18 months.
For best quality, we recommend using it within 6 months to avoid freezer burn.
Freezer burn won’t make the food unsafe—it may just slightly change the taste and texture. It often looks icy and may have a mild frozen smell, but it’s still safe to feed.
How long does thawed raw food last in the fridge?
Once thawed, the food stays fresh in the refrigerator for about 3–5 days, depending on your fridge’s temperature.
Note: Products with green tripe may have a strong odor, but they should not smell like ammonia. If you detect an ammonia-like smell, discard the product immediately.

Why choose raw dog food over kibble?
Raw dog food closely mirrors a dog’s natural ancestral diet. Where can I find your feeding guidelines?
You’ll find detailed feeding guidelines on our website to help you determine the right portion based on your dog’s age, weight, and activity level.
Can I mix raw food with kibble?
Yes—but with caution. If combining raw and kibble in the same meal, limit raw food to 20–30% of the total portion. Mixing above that can disrupt the nutrient balance of both.
For a safe and convenient blend, we recommend trying our Essential or Classic blends—designed to offer the benefits of raw without the guesswork.
Remember: some raw is better than none!
How do I transition my dog to a raw diet?
We recommend a gradual 12-day transition:
- Days 1–3: 80% old food / 20% raw
- Days 4–6: 60% old / 40% raw
- Days 7–9: 40% old / 60% raw
- Days 10–12: 20% old / 80% raw
- Day 13+: 100% raw
Monitor your dog’s digestion and energy levels throughout the process. Some dogs may need more time—adjust as needed and consult your vet if you have concerns.
Is your raw food suitable for all breeds and ages?
Yes! Our raw meals are formulated to support dogs of all breeds and life stages—from puppies to seniors. However, always consult your vet before changing your dog’s diet, especially if they have specific health issues.
Subscription & Management
How do I manage my subscription?
To manage your subscription, log in to your customer portal. From the dashboard, click on "Manage Subscriptions" to view all your active subscriptions. You can then make changes such as rescheduling, skipping, modifying, or canceling your order.
How do I change my delivery schedule?
Click on your active subscription, then select "Reschedule". Choose a new date from the calendar. Once selected, all future orders will follow the new schedule.
Can I skip a delivery?
Yes! If you have too much food or want to skip a delivery for any reason, click "Skip Order" and confirm the change on the next screen.
How do I update my subscription details (e.g., quantity, box weight, blend, or frequency)?
Click on the subscription you’d like to edit. You’ll see options to update combinations, box weight, chub size, quantity, and delivery frequency. After making your changes, hit "Save Changes" to confirm.
Can I add a new product to my subscription?
Absolutely! Scroll to the bottom of your subscription page and click "Browse All Products". Search or scroll to find the product you'd like to add. You can choose to add it as a one-time item or as part of your recurring order.
How do I remove or cancel a product from my subscription?
Click "Manage this subscription", scroll to the bottom, and select the "Cancel Subscription" option for that specific product.
How do I know if my changes have been saved?
After making updates, return to the main subscription page and review your order details to confirm everything looks correct.
