Why Choose Raw Dog Food Instead of Kibble?

Why should I choose raw dog food instead of kibble?

1. Improved digestion: Raw dog food is easier for dogs to digest compared to kibble. It contains natural enzymes and probiotics that promote a healthy gut. This can lead to improved digestion, reduced gas, and firmer stools.
2. Increased energy and vitality: Raw dog food is packed with nutrients and enzymes that are often lost during the cooking process of kibble. These nutrients can help boost your dog's energy levels and overall vitality. You may notice a shinier coat, brighter eyes, and increased stamina in your furry friend.
3. Better oral health: Chewing on raw meat can help keep your dog's teeth clean and healthy. The natural enzymes in raw dog food can also help prevent plaque and tartar buildup, reducing the risk of dental issues such as gum disease and tooth decay.
4. Reduced allergies and sensitivities: Many dogs suffer from allergies and sensitivities to common ingredients found in kibble, such as grains and artificial additives. Raw dog food eliminates these potential allergens, making it a great choice for dogs with food sensitivities or allergies.
5. Weight management: Raw dog food is often lower in carbohydrates and higher in protein compared to kibble. This can help dogs maintain a healthy weight and prevent obesity. The high protein content also helps build lean muscle mass.
6. Enhanced immune system: The natural, unprocessed ingredients in raw dog food can help strengthen your dog's immune system. This can lead to a reduced risk of illness and a stronger overall immune response.

How do I transition my dog from kibble to raw?

For adult dogs, the transition to 100% raw can be gradual. We recommend a two week transition period.
• Days 1-3: add 20% raw to 80% kibble.
• Days 4-6: add 40% raw to 70% kibble.
• Days 7-9: add 60% raw to 60% kibble.
• Days 10-12: add 80% raw to 20% kibble.
• Days 12-14: remove kibble completely and feed 100% raw.
For puppies, there is no transitional period and fully raw meals should be balanced immediately.

Can I mix kibble and raw together? Is it okay to feed both?

Yes! If you plan to feed both raw and kibble, we strongly suggest not feeding over 20-30% of a total meal as raw. When mixing raw into kibble at percentages above 30% of the total meal, the raw food can throw off the nutrient balance of the kibble and vice versa, which actually leads to doing more damage than good.
If you are planning to use raw in this way, we suggest checking out our classic blend! It gives you all the benefits of raw without the added stress of calculating multiple exact nutrients by weight.
